Port Canaveral Before You Sail
Prices & schedules checked October 27, 2026
Port Canaveral is Central Florida’s cruise homeport — roughly a 45-minute drive east of Orlando International Airport (MCO) on S.R. 528, per the port’s own directions. Port Canaveral reported over 8.6 million revenue passenger movements in FY 2025 (embark and disembark counted separately — not unique people). This page is for guests who fly into MCO the night before a sailing and want a calm path to the terminal.
- Use this if… you’re embarking at Port Canaveral, arriving MCO the day before, and need lodging, a transfer or parking facts from the port itself.
- Skip if… you already live in Central Florida and drive yourself, or your cruise line’s private transfer is already booked — still skim the official parking / boarding notes below.
Viator and GetYourGuide prices change often, so we don’t quote them: the booking buttons open the live listing, where you’ll see today’s price, times and cancellation terms. Facts on this page come from the operators’ own sites.
Night-before hotel: near the port vs Orlando
Near the port (Cocoa Beach / Cape Canaveral / Port Canaveral) shortens embarkation morning: you’re already on the Space Coast when parking opens and boarding windows start. Staying in Orlando (I-Drive, Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista) works if you still have park days — plan an early drive or a pre-booked transfer on sail morning. Corridor trade-offs for the tourist strip are on our where to stay guide.

We don’t quote room rates. Each button opens a live Stay22 search (Booking.com / Vrbo). Confirm cancellation terms before you lock the night before a hard embarkation time.
Getting to the port (MCO → Port Canaveral)
The port’s directions page: from MCO take the North Exit to S.R. 528 East (toll), then Exit 54A for A Terminals (CT-5, 6, 8, 10) or Exit 54B for B Terminals (CT-1, 3). Drive time is listed as about 45 minutes in light traffic — leave margin on embarkation morning.
Port Canaveral’s guest-transportation page lists rideshare (Uber/Lyft), rental-car shuttles, hotel shuttles, cruise-line airport transfers, other ground providers, and Cocoa Beach Express as the official on-demand concessionaire. Commercial operators at the port must be permitted; fares for commercial service are pre-arranged / pre-paid under port rules.
Shared & private port transfers (Viator category)
- Category Port Transfers for Orlando (d663)
- What we verified Category URL shape matches Viator’s Orlando catalog; product pages return HTTP 403 to our fetcher, so we quote no prices or pickup windows
- Tip Open the listing for live times, meeting point and cancellation — then match it to your cruise terminal
Welcome Pickups and Economybookings buttons use Travelpayouts affiliate links when the slot is filled. Compare with your cruise line’s own transfer and with rideshare on the day.
Day-of timing, parking and check-in
All of the following comes from portcanaveral.com (fetched October 27, 2026). Your cruise line sets boarding time — follow the time on your documents / app, not a generic “arrive at dawn” tip.
- Parking for embarking guests does not open before 10 a.m. Debarking passengers can access vehicles anytime.
- Parking rate: $20.00 per day plus tax for vehicles and RVs, including arrival and departure days. Pay on entry (no cash; major credit cards). No reservations. Rates subject to change — confirm on the port page.
- Garages / lots sit adjacent to each terminal (park-and-walk; oversized spaces available).
- Drop-off: proceed to the cruise terminal for passengers and bags; cruise-line porters assist with luggage; parking staff direct drivers to the lot.
- Terminal assignment can change — check with your cruise line or travel agent for the current terminal, then use the port’s terminal arrival guides / map.
- Documents: requirements vary by cruise line and itinerary — confirm with your line, not the port FAQ alone.
Extra day before you sail
If you have a free afternoon or full day before embarkation, keep it light — don’t stack a late night that risks missing a morning boarding window.
- Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex — the closest major “Orlando-area” day trip to the port; see our KSC guide.
- ICON Park / I-Drive evening — if you’re still lodging in Orlando; see ICON Park.
- Park-light one-day plan — space, gators or the Wheel without multi-day park tickets: park-light day.
- Staying in Orlando a few days first? Our day trips from Orlando guide compares four Gray Line coach trips (Crystal River manatees, KSC, St. Augustine, Clearwater Beach), each with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
