From early November the Parkway towns light up. PigeonForge.com says Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are draped in more than 12 million lights, and Dollywood adds more than 6 million of its own. Here are the dates, the guided light tours you can book, and what changes in the national park in winter.

Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas
November 6, 2026 to January 3, 2027, with more than 6 million lights, indoor and outdoor holiday shows, Santa’s Village and the new Peppermint Valley in Country Fair. Tickets come from Dollywood directly (they aren’t on Viator or GetYourGuide).
Anakeesta’s Enchanted Christmas
The Winterfest calendar lists Anakeesta’s Enchanted Christmas for November 13, 2026 – January 3, 2027. Standard Anakeesta admission is all-day with re-entry; check on the listing whether your date and time are covered.

Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Supper Show

Getting around during Winterfest
- Gatlinburg’s trolleys are free and run every day of the year; the winter schedule (Nov 1 – Apr 30) is 10:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. Park once at the Welcome Center’s Park-n-Ride lot, 1011 Banner Road, and ride in (Gatlinburg.com).
- Gatlinburg’s Winter Magic lights can be seen on foot downtown or from your car with the app or printable map. For Pigeon Forge’s Parkway displays, a guided tour (above) means nobody in your group has to drive.
Where to stay for Winterfest
Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are where most of the lights and events are. A cabin suits families and longer stays; a hotel on or near the Parkway suits a short light-seeing trip. Winter in the national park
- Kuwohi Road (to the park’s highest point) has a 2026 season of April 1 – November 29, and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail May 1 – November 29 (NPS). From late November, choose park tours that don’t depend on them, like the “Classic” tour or a Cades Cove tour.
- Winter weather can close other park roads too; check the NPS road status before you set out.
